TCP/IP Software Installation under Windows 95/NT
Once you install your network adapter and its software successfully and have
rebooted your computer without any error messages or complaints, you can proceed with
installing the TCP/IP modules. Please note that the setup procedure will require to insert the
Windows 95 distribution diskettes or the distribution CD. So have them handy.
In the "Control Panel" you should see a "Network" icon.
- Click Network.

- You should see a screen like the one above. (Please note that this is only an example).
If you do not have at least three lines ( one for the adapter, one for protocol and one for client) then use the
"Add" button to add these yourself. You will find the "Client" driver under "Microsoft" and you should choose
"Client for Microsoft Networks".
You can also find the "TCP/IP Protocol" under Microsoft when you click "Add"-"Protocol".
- Now click on the "TCP/IP -> NE2000 Compatible" line (this line might appear a bit different
because of the type of your network adapter; but you will certainly have the "TCP/IP ->" part.) and then the
"Properties" button.
- The entries that you will make now are extremely important. Be very careful!...

You can use above examples as quidelines for yourself. Please note that these are only examples. You must
use the IP addresses and names given to you in the e-mail that you should have received to confirm the acceptance of
your application for a Dorm-Net connection.
- Now Click on OKbuttons all the way back and allow your PC to reboot.
- Hopefully your machine should now be setup for use on the network. You can check your setup by trying to
telnet to a UNIX host you allowed to login. You can use the TELNET.EXE under C:\WINDOWS directory
to test your TCP/IP connection. If you see the login prompt of the host to which you ahve issued the telnet then
you are done. Congratulations....
